Always save some money for a rainy day, but don’t spend it on that rainy day, spend it on a train or airline ticket to distant lands and cultures.
You must travel at every given opportunity. Discover your own routes and favourite vibes in cities and countryside alike. Travel with friends or go it alone. Don’t spend all day in shops that you can find at home, go deeper, go to gal- leries, parks, historical places and museums.
Behave like a tourist on the first day and take the open-top bus tour. These are usually really great value for money, and allow you to get your bearings in a new city and see which places appeal to you most. Then on the second day, make like the locals, go off-piste, away from the tourist areas and discover the authentic people.
